Johann Christoph von Strauss († 1686 in oven ) was a kurbrandenburger Major General , Chief of the Cuirassier Regiment. 2 to Amtshauptmann of Himmelstedt and Kartzig and hereditary lord on Zernikow.

He fought for some time in the service of Brandenburg, on March 17, 1660 his regiment was reduced again and he was dismissed as a knight master. At the same time, however, he became the commissioner of the Königsberg district. In 1663 he became a lieutenant colonel in the Marwitz garrison regiment in Küstrin . In 1670 he received the rider regiment No. 2 (Küssow). He was badly wounded in the Battle of Fehrbellin in 1676. But for his bravery he was appointed governor of Kartzig and Himmelstedt. On December 15, 1677 he became a colonel and on July 15, 1686 major general. In 1686 he moved with the Brandenburg auxiliary troops to Hungary on the wages of the emperor and died while attacking the fortress of Ofen.

He was married twice. With his first wife he had a son, Egidius Wilhelm von Strauss († 1699), who became colonel in Brandenburg and commandant of Frankfurt an der Oder . With his second wife Eva Katharina von Goerne from the Plaue house , he had the son Friedrich von Strauss . On April 24, 1700 this received 1500 thalers from Elector Friedrich III. in order to continue his studies in Halle , but there he died on January 29, 1703 of leaves as the last representative of his family.

In 1696 the widow married the royal Polish and electoral Saxon privy councilor and imperial count Karl Gottfried von Bose (1654–1731), heir to Netzschkau and Gannich.
