Johann Ernst Rembt
Johann Ernst Rembt (baptized August 27, 1749 in Suhl ; † February 26, 1810 there ) was a German organist and composer .
Life
Johann Ernst Rembt was born as the son of the Suhl sexton and teacher Johann Martin Rembt. He received his musical training from Johann Peter Kellner in Graefenroda . According to Ernst Ludwig Gerber , he traveled to the Netherlands and France in 1768 , where his organ playing was admired. In 1772 he became organist at the Suhler Kreuzkirche , in 1773 at the main church “St. Marien " . Apart from short trips, he remained active in Suhl until the end of his life.
Around 1787 he made contact with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach in Hamburg , to whom he dedicated his first collection of organ trios. The chorale preludes published in 1791 are dedicated to Johann Adam Hiller .
