Johann Evangelist Habert

Johann Evangelist Habert (born October 18, 1833 in Oberplan ( South Bohemia ), † September 1, 1896 in Gmunden ( Upper Austria )) was a Catholic church musician and composer .

Habert was the son of a master baker. He attended the elementary school in Oberplan run by his grandfather and, from 1848, the normal school in Linz . This was connected to a teacher training college, which he graduated from.

In 1852 he was first a teacher in Naarn an der Donau , later in 1857 in Waizenkirchen . From 1860 he worked as a parish organist in Gmunden am Traunsee, and from 1878 he was also the rain choir here.

Habert became known through numerous church music works written by him.
