Johann Friedrich Barnstedt (born July 14, 1750 in Verden (Aller) ; † March 11, 1839 in Delmenhorst ) was a German lawyer , landowner and mayor of Delmenhorst.

Life

Barnstedt was the son of Carl Friedrich Barnstedt (1717–1778) and his second wife Johanna Juliane Auguste born. Cook. He studied law and then worked as a lawyer at the regional court and the city council of Delmenhorst. From 1779 he held the title of chamber assessor . When he later acquired the Holzkamp estate, he withdrew from his legal activities and mainly operated in agriculture. In 1794 he resigned his mandate completely. Since none of his sons wanted to take over the business, Barnstedt sold the estate again in 1809 and relocated to Delmenhorst. When the Duchy of Oldenburg was annexed by the French Empire in early 1811 , Barnstedt was appointed Maire Adjoint in Delmenhorst by the French administration . He held this position until the return of Peter I in November 1813 and then continued to function as provisional mayor until the end of the provisional administration on October 1, 1814. From October 1st, Barnstedt officially led the city magistrate as the real mayor. In November 1825 he retired, which had previously been suggested to him because of maladministration.

family

Barnstedt was married twice. In his first marriage he married Marie Luise Brandt and in the second marriage Caroline Friederike Agnese Hüpeden (1769–1837). From these marriages there were 8 children, of which the son August (1793–1865) was chief judicial officer in Oberstein and the son Anton Barnstedt (1799–1872) became the district president of the Principality of Lübeck .
