August Barnstedt (lawyer, 1793)

August Erich Julius Barnstedt (born May 4, 1793 in Delmenhorst , † August 19, 1865 in Oberstein ) was a German lawyer, judge and parliamentarian.

Life

Barnstedt was the son of the chamber assessor and later mayor of Delmenhorst Johann Friedrich Barnstedt (1750–1839) and his second wife Caroline Friederike Agnese nee. Hüpeden (1769–1837) born. He attended school in Verden and during the French occupation was secretary to Mairie in Delmenhorst, which his father directed . He then studied law at the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1814 he became a member of the Corps Frisia and the Corps Bremensia Göttingen . After passing the entrance examination for the Oldenburg civil service, he was transferred to the Principality of Birkenfeld , which was awarded to the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg in the Congress of Vienna , and was initially administrator in Nohfelden and Birkenfeld . In 1822 Barnstedt was appointed secretary to the government in Birkenfeld and advocatus Piarum Causarum . In 1827 he took over the administration of the office of Oberstein as an official . In 1838 he was appointed court counselor. After Oldenburg authorities reorganization of 1856 that separated the judiciary from the administration, he was ex officio judge and Justice in Oberstein and received two years later the title of top Justice . He stayed in Oberstein until his death.

From 1854 to 1860 Barnstedt was a member of the Oldenburg state parliament as a member of the Oldenburg constituency of Birkenfeld . Barnstedt was a member of several learned societies and published two descriptions of the Principality of Birkenfeld, which were written mainly for practical reasons for the needs of the administration, in order to give an overview of the conditions in the newly acquired areas.

family

Barnstedt was married to Marie Philippine born on March 23, 1821. Goering (1801-1867). Of the couple's five children, Erich (1822–1883) was senior magistrate and Karl August (1823–1914) was the district president of the Principality of Birkenfeld. Anton Barnstedt , who was government president of the Principality of Lübeck from 1857 to 1871 , was his brother.
