Johann Friedrich Eyserbeck
Johann Friedrich Eyserbeck (born October 2, 1734 in Klieken , † February 24, 1818 in Wörlitz ) was a German gardener and court gardener to Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau .
life and work
Johann Friedrich Eyserbeck was born in Klieken in 1734 as the son of a gardener family. After Eyserbeck had learned the trade of gardener in his father's business from 1747 to 1750 in Zerbst , he went on a hike. During this time he crossed Germany, was in Holland from 1753 to 1759 and in England from 1759 to 1761 . He was particularly impressed by the Dutch horticulture, so in 1761 he toyed with the idea of setting up a flower grower there. During a visit to his homeland, however, he met Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt, who hired him as court gardener in Dessau for the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm .
He lived in the farm yard at the Luisium . In 1763/64 he accompanied the Prince of Anhalt-Dessau together with Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff on a trip to England, drafted the first plans in 1768 and directed the first work on Wörlitzer Park . Among other things, work on the Luisium, the Georgium , the Sieglitzer Berg , the orchards on the Elbwall etc. is attributed to him, so that a large part of today's world cultural heritage is based on his work. Johann Friedrich Eyserbeck was the father of Johann August Eyserbeck and Johann Rudolf Eyserbeck. He is buried in the Christian cemetery in Wörlitz.
