Johann Friedrich Primisser (born August 21, 1757 in Prad am Stilfserjoch as Johann Primisser ; † March 1, 1812 in Innsbruck ) was an archivist and poet from Tyrol .

Life

Primisser was the son of a weaver and came from the South Tyrolean Primisser family . He was nicknamed Friedrich in order to avoid confusion with his cousin Johann Primisser . Little is known about his training, except that it probably went beyond the normal level appropriate to his origins. On May 9, 1785 he was employed as registrant at the kk gubernium in Innsbruck and there in the archive . He had won the favor of Joseph Freiherr von Sperges , so that in 1791 he commissioned him to hand over his estate in his will . In 1792 he received the documents for this, but it was never published.

Primisser gained fame as a poet in Tyrolean dialect. On December 14, 1802 he was promoted to the kk real archivist as well as the registry director at the Tyrolean regional gubernium in Innsbruck. As a result of the transfer of rule to the Kingdom of Bavaria , he was confirmed in his offices on November 14, 1806.

The archivist and historian Gottfried Primisser , with whom he prepared several manuscripts, was his son.
