Johann Georg Weishaupt

Johann Georg Weishaupt (born April 24, 1716 in Brilon ; † September 20, 1753 in Heiligenthal near Würzburg ) was a German legal scholar and professor of law at the University of Ingolstadt .

Life

He studied law in Würzburg with Johann Adam von Ickstatt . Prince-Bishop Friedrich Karl von Schönborn-Buchheim appointed him public corepitor of rights and extraordinary teacher of legal history . Thereby he decided to pursue the academic teaching profession. In 1743 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. and dedicated his dissertation to the prince-bishop.

A short time later, under the influence of Ickstatt, he moved to the University of Ingolstadt. There he took over a law professorship, which he held until his death. He taught institutions , criminal law, and general legal history. One of his students was Johann Georg von Lori .

He was also closely connected to Ickstatt's family, having married his daughter. Ickstatt also took over the sponsorship of the son Johann Adam Weishaupt . Weishaupt died suddenly while on vacation.
