Johann Georg von Hütterott

Johann Georg Ritter von Hütterott (born December 21, 1852 in Trieste , Austrian Empire , † May 27, 1910 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ) was an Austrian industrialist.

Life

He was born in Trieste as the son of the businessman Carl Hütterott († 1889). Hütterott joined the shipyard Stabilimento Tecnico Triestino , founded in 1857 , where he became a member of the company's board of directors from 1896. Under his leadership, in addition to the existing San Rocco shipyard, a second named San Marco , which was also located in Trieste, was acquired. The San Marco shipyard was then to exclusively build warships , including the battleships SMS Habsburg and SMS Árpád .

In 1879 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Japanese Empire , in 1891 Hütterott was awarded the Order of the Iron Crown III. Class excellent.

In 1898 Hütterott was raised to the nobility . From 1904 to 1908, Hütterott was a member of the industrial and agricultural council of the monarchy , from 1909 of the industrial council. From 1905 he was a member of the manor house of the Austrian Imperial Council for life.

Hütterott was a passionate art collector , whereby he primarily preferred the subject of marine painting . He also owned numerous paintings by the famous marine painter Alexander Kircher , twelve of which are now in the local museum of Rovinj ( Croatia ) in a separate church room.

In the south of Rovinj, Hütterott planned the construction of a climatic health resort called Cap Aureo (Latin: Golden Cape). The project was never completed, but the area is now a nature reserve.
