from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Gottfried Kuntsch (born August 4, 1735 in Wilschdorf near Dresden, † April 12, 1795 in Dresden ) was an architect who worked in Dresden .

Life

Kuntsch was a student of the master builder Christian Friedrich Exner . He became court conductor in 1758 and court and official mason master in 1768. In 1773 Kuntsch built the Palais Loß for the Cabinet Minister Johann Adolph von Loß in Dresden, which was demolished in 1907 for the construction of the New Town Hall . Together with Johann Daniel Schade , he created the extensions to the Palais Brühl-Marcolini in 1775 . From 1782 to 1786, Kuntsch was involved in the renovation of the Japanese Palace with shame . From 1789 to 1791 he converted the Brühl library into an art academy . He also built the Weißeritz Bridge in Plauenschen Grund .

In 1787, Kuntsch and Christian Gottlob Reusch rebuilt the mirror grinding shop on Mühlgraben. The mirror grinding shop of the Ostrahütte processed glass from the Friedrichsthal mirror glassworks in Kostebrau . The manor house at the powder mill on Weißeritzmühlgraben probably also came from him after the entire site was rebuilt after an explosion in 1775. The mansion with a square roof turret is an example of the plait style .
