Christian Friedrich Exner

Christian Friedrich Exner (born May 13, 1718 in Lampertswalde ; † September 1, 1798 in Dresden ) was a German builder .

As a representative of Dresdner rococo he made a career from the building inspector at the Higher Building Authority (1744), about the position of the country builder (1752) to the chief master builder at the Higher Building Authority (1766). In that year he received the professorship at the Dresden Art Academy .

Exner created, among other things, the east wing of the Taschenberg-Palais (1761–1763), led the renovation of the “ Fürstenbergschen Haus ” (1766), worked together with Johann George Schmidt and Gottlob August Hölzer on the construction of the Dresden Kreuzkirche (1766–1768) and was involved in the reconstruction of the Japanese Palace (1782).

In 1788 Exner built the side wings of the Bergpalais of Pillnitz Castle according to plans by his successor in office and son-in-law Christian Traugott Weinlig and Johann Daniel Schade . The latter were based on the old plans of the builder Longuelune . The water palace at Pillnitz Castle followed in the years 1789 to 1791.

Exner was buried in the Inner Neustädter Friedhof in Dresden.
