Johann Gottfried Vierling (born January 25, 1750 in Metzels , † November 22, 1813 in Schmalkalden ) was a German organist and composer .

Life

From 1763 he attended the Lyceum in Schmalkalden. In 1768 he followed his teacher Johann Nikolaus Tischer as organist in Schmalkalden. An education to be found in the older biographical literature with Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Johann Philipp Kirnberger is not certain; it is certain that he was in personal contact with both of them.

Vierling, who stylistically based himself on Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, composed several collections of easy organ pieces, a four-part organ chorale book (1790) and harpsichord music : two trios , a quartet and six sonatas . Two volumes of church cantatas are handwritten by him . He also published an improvisation course and a thorough bass school .
