Johann Gottlieb Jahn

Johann Gottlieb Jahn (born January 24, 1804 in Droßdorf ; † January 3, 1878 in Oelsnitz / Vogtl. ) Was a German teacher , member of parliament and journalist .

Life

After attending the Plauen City School in Vogtland , Johann Gottlieb Jahn went to Leipzig University in 1824 , where he studied theology. In 1827 Jahn became a private tutor in a wooden cell at Eisleben. In the following year he founded a collective school in the town of Oelsnitz in Vogtland, whose rectorate he took over in 1831. In the revolutionary year of 1848 he resigned the school office and took over the reaction of the Oelsnitzer Wochenblatt to Michaelis .

In 1849 Johann Gottlieb Jahn was elected to the board of the city council in Oelsnitz and represented Oelsnitz and the Vogtland in the second chamber of the state assembly of the Kingdom of Saxony as a member of the 18th municipal electoral district in 1850, 1851 and 1854 .
