Johann Gottlieb Ziehnert

Amadeus Johann Gottlieb Ziehnert (born March 5, 1785 in Quohren , † April 7, 1856 in Schlettau ) was a Protestant theologian and writer .

Life

Pastor Johann Gottlieb Ziehnert, who works as a textbook author , was born as the son of a farmer in Quohren near Kreischa. He enrolled at the University of Leipzig in 1803 to study theology there. During his studies he met his wife Johanne Christina Schal and got married. Both became parents of nine children. The most famous son was Widar Ziehnert , a Saxon collector of sagas. After his first position as an assistant teacher in Dresden, he became rector and first hospital preacher in Königsbrück in 1810 . From there he went to Grossenhain in 1816 to take up a position as pastor. His next professional position as a pastor began in Schlettau in 1828. Here he was finally in service until 1851. In the course of his life Ziehnert wrote numerous educational books and writings. He was an honorary member of the Görlitz Natural Research Society .

There is different information about the place of the end of his life. The Schlettau parish states that he was buried there, but this is not a reliable indication of the place of death.
