Johann Hönig

Johann Hönig (born March 9, 1810 in Karlsbrunn , † October 26, 1886 in Preßbaum ) was an Austrian mathematician .

Life

Hönig studied at the Polytechnic Institute in Vienna and was assistant for mechanics from 1835 and professor for descriptive geometry and civil engineering at the mining and forestry academy in Schemnitz from 1839 to 1843 . He then moved to Vienna, where he was Professor of Descriptive Geometry at the Vienna Polytechnic for the next 27 years . In 1868/69 he was rector there. Mathematicians such as Rudolf Niemtschik (Niemcik, 1831–1877), Rudolf Staudigl (1838–1891) and Rudolf Skuherský (1828–1863) were trained under him.
