Life

Born as the son of Johann I , he took over his ancestral properties in Bergedorf with half of the Sachsenwald and Mölln when he reached the age of majority . During the disputes of his brother-in-law, Count Gerhard III. von Schauenburg and Holstein-Rendsburg and Count Adolf VI. von Schauenburg and Holstein-Pinneberg with the cities of Lübeck and Hamburg he sided with the Counts of Schauenburg and Holstein . They had their achievements in Holstein confirmed as a fiefdom by Johann II, their liege lord. After his death, Johann II's widow Elisabeth left her brother Gerhard III. the possessions Mölln and later also Bergedorf and finally in 1330 half of the Sachsenwald as pledge. Both rulers were left to the imperial city of Lübeck by the grandchildren. It was never up to the Sachsen-Lauenburg Line to regain these areas.
