Johann Jakob Bäbler

Johann Jakob Bäbler (born May 3, 1836 in Schwanden GL ; † July 14, 1900 in Baden AG ) was a Swiss teacher and historian .

Life

Johann Jakob Bäbler, son of a secondary school teacher of the same name and local historian in Glarus , studied ancient languages, philosophy, German and history in Basel and Bonn . In 1859 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil., 1859–1866 he worked as a district teacher in Brugg , 1866–1876 as a high school teacher and private lecturer for history and pedagogy in Bern and 1876–1900 as a teacher for German and history at the canton school in Aarau . In addition to his professional activity, he wrote numerous educational, philological and historical treatises and was an important field name researcher in the canton of Aargau (material collection in the Aargau State Archives ). He was also the founder of the “Brugger Neujahrsblätter” and co-founder of the Brugg City Library .
