Johann Jakob hollow (* 6. November 1809 in Grub ; † 28. February 1859 ibid ; heimatberechtigt in Grub AR) was a Swiss mayor , Cantonal and founder of Ausserrhoden insurance industry from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Johann Jakob Hohl was a son of Johann Konrad Hohl, a poor weaver and farmer , and Anna Maria Schmid. In 1831 he married Elsbeth Schläpfer, a daughter of Jakob Schläpfer. In 1827 he attended the Trogen Cantonal School . For financial reasons he had to end this after 40 weeks. From 1828 to 1831 he worked as a weaver for his father. In his free time he completed self-taught training. From 1832 to 1837 he worked as a teacher in Herisau . From 1837 to 1845 he worked as a land clerk , state police administrator and intermittent interrogation . From 1845 to 1847 he was the parish clerk in Grub. From 1845 he also worked as a farmer and from 1853 as a postman .

From 1845 to 1853 Johann Jakob Hohl was a councilor in Grub. From 1847 to 1853 he held the office of mayor . From 1847 to 1853 he was a member of the Ausserrhoder Grand Council . In 1851, Johann Jakob Hohl made great contributions to the creation of a cantonal road law. From 1851 to 1859 he was an actuary of the cantonal road commission. From 1853 to 1859 he acted as a road inspector for the Vorderland region . From 1852 to 1859 he was a member of the cantonal expert commission. From 1841 to 1859 he then worked as an accountant for the cantonal building insurance company. He is considered its founder. From 1845 to 1859 he was secretary of the Swiss Mobiliarassekuranz-Anstalt. From 1843 to 1859 he chaired the Appenzell non-profit society . From 1842 to 1854 he was editor of the negotiations of the Appenzell non-profit society . From 1854 to 1859 he was the founder and editor of the Appenzell Yearbooks . He wrote numerous essays on the history of the canton.
