Johann Jakob Korn (born July 20, 1702 in Papitz ; † December 16, 1756 ) was a printer and book and newspaper publisher.

Life

Johann Jakob Korn settled in Breslau , where he published the first works (mainly theological) from 1727; There was an expansion of the publishing activities in Eastern Europe to St. Petersburg , Poland, Ukraine. With the Prussian takeover of power in Silesia on October 22, 1741, Korn received the privilege of publishing a new newspaper from the Prussian king with the title "Privileged Silesian State, War and Peace Newspaper". The first edition appeared on January 3, 1742. The "Privileged Schlesische Staats-, Kriegs- und Friedenszeitung" is the predecessor of the later national daily newspaper Schlesische Zeitung , which was able to develop into a well-known publication for Prussia and the German Empire . In 1762 his son Wilhelm Gottlieb Korn took over his father's important business. With the destruction of Wroclaw in 1945 , the publishing house that Johann Jakob Korn had once founded and that his descendants had continued was also lost.
