Johann Kaufmann (born August 8, 1906 in Dornbirn , † December 6, 1974 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician and typesetter . From 1934 to 1937 he was a member of the State Parliament of Salzburg .

education and profession

Kaufmann attended elementary school in Dornbirn from 1912 to 1917 and then graduated from the local secondary school from 1917 to 1920 . In 1920 he began an apprenticeship as a typesetter at the Vorarlberger Verlagsanstalt in Dornbirn and also completed the vocational training school. He completed his apprenticeship in 1924 and then worked as a typesetter in Dornbirn between 1924 and 1926. After working as a typesetter in Salzburg from 1926 to 1927, he went on a journey from 1927 to 1929 that took him through Germany . He finally passed his master craftsman examination in Leipzig and then worked from 1929 to 1937 and from 1938 to 1940 as a typesetter in the Zaunrith print shop in Salzburg. He was drafted into military service after the outbreak of World War II in 1940 and served until 1945. After the end of the war, he returned in 1945 from captivity. Kaufmann then worked from 1945 to 1947 as an employee of the State Insurance Institute in Salzburg and then switched, also as an employee from 1948 to 1971, to the General Accident Insurance Agency (AUVA) in Salzburg.

Politics and functions

Kaufmann became a member of the State Parliament of Salzburg on November 22, 1934 and was a member of this body until August 18, 1937. He was then from 1937 to 1938 a member of the parish council and city council of the city of Salzburg. In addition, from 1936 to 1938 he was deputy chairman of the supervisory committee of the salaried health insurance fund in Salzburg and in 1936 a member of the savings bank committee of the Salzburger Sparkasse . After the Second World War, he worked from 1963 to 1971 as works council chairman of the general accident insurance company in Salzburg.
