Johann Ludwig Prasch

Johann Ludwig Prasch (* 1637 in Regensburg ; † June 11, 1690 in Regensburg) was a German and Latin writer and poet .

Life

He was a son of the Regensburg Senator Johann Wolfgang Prasch and attended grammar school there, then studied history in Jena , later law in Strasbourg , and finally acquired further legal and political knowledge in Giessen . Back in his native Regensburg, he quickly made a career and soon became mayor and member of the Reichstag .

Despite his various political offices, he found the leisure to publish an astonishing number of aesthetic writings, to which even the often critical contemporary Erdmann Neumeister paid high praise. Only his theological speculations brought him into disputes with Christian Thomasius .
