Johann Matthias Kitz

Johann Matthias Kitz (* before 1750, † after 1795) was an architect of the Baroque from Arolsen . He was first an engineer lieutenant, then a Prince-Waldeck major .

Around 1750, Kitz built Rheder Castle near Brakel . He redesigned the Brilon town hall around 1750 . Presumably he also built the Sauvigny house in Brilon . From 1754 to 1759 he built a new nave for the church of Affoldern . The moated castle Schwarzenraben in Bökenförde was built by Kitz from 1765 to 1768. From 1770 to 1774 he built the new building of the old state school in Korbach (Klosterstrasse 11). From 1768 to 1788 he directed the construction of the evangelical church in Bad Arolsen. From 1787 to 1795 Kitz worked at Rhoden Castle in Diemelstadt . He was the father of Friedrich Kasimir Kitz .
