Johann Michael Mehlig

Johann Michael Mehlig (born January 1, 1716 in Weisdrup near Dresden, † November 4, 1777 in Chemnitz ) was a German Lutheran theologian .

Life

Mehlig attended the Dresden Annenschule and / or the grammar school in Freiberg , studied theology at the University of Leipzig and at the University of Wittenberg since 1736 . At the latter university he acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy in 1743 . In the same year he took up a catechist position at St. Peterskirche in Leipzig , in 1746 he became a substitute for the pastor in Chemnitz and in 1772 he took over the position of the first pastor and superintendent of Chemnitz.
