Johann Nepomuk Ring

Johann Nepomuk Ring (born December 15, 1772 in Cham in the Upper Palatinate, † March 17, 1814 in Regensburg ) was a Roman Catholic priest and sub-rain of the Regensburg seminary .

Life

After attending the monastery school in Prifling from the age of ten, he attended the seminar in Neuburg an der Donau from 1784 . Ring received further training from 1791 in the clerical seminar in Regensburg. He was ordained a priest on September 15, 1795. He later received the position of high school professor at the St. Paul High School in Regensburg, in order to be appointed sub-rain of the priestly seminary in Regensburg in 1803 under Georg Michael Wittmann . Ring was very interested in botany , from 1790 he became a member of the botanical society in Regensburg and represented the botanist Hoppe of the St.-Paul-Gymnasium in the summer months. On April 23, 1809 stormed under NapoleonFrench, Bavarian and Wuerttemberg troops the city of Regensburg occupied by the Austrians. The then cathedral pastor Georg Michael Wittmann (1761–1833) and his helpers, above all Johann Nepomuk Ring, saved many wounded. Ring was assigned by the episcopal ordinariate as a pastor in the military hospital , for which he seemed suitable due to excellent language skills.
