Johann Peisker (historian)

Johann Peisker (born May 25, 1851 in Wopořan , Bohemia , † May 29, 1933 in Prague ) was director of the Graz University Library and professor of social and economic history in Prague.

Peisker studied history and Slavic studies at the University of Prague from 1870 to 1874 . In 1874 he got a job at the University Library in Prague, from where he moved to the University Library in Graz in 1891. In 1892 he received his doctorate from the University of Graz, where he qualified as a private lecturer in social and economic history in 1901. From 1910 to 1919 he was the successor to Anton Schlossar as director of the Graz University Library. From 1919 to 1921 he taught as a full professor at the University of Prague.
