Johann Pfautz (also Johannes Pfautz , Latinized to Joannes Pfautzius; born April 14, 1622 in Ulm ; † May 24, 1674 ibid) was a German physician .

Life

Johann Pfautz was the son of the Ulm cooper Konrad Victor Pfautz. After studying medicine at the universities of Tübingen and Padua , he received his doctorate from the latter in 1646. In 1648 he returned to Ulm and began to practice there. On September 28, 1652 he was elected a member ( matriculation no. 8 ) of the Academia Naturae Curiosorum , today's Leopoldina , and in 1653 was accepted into the Collegium Medicum of the city of Ulm. Also in 1653 he was appointed professor of physics at the municipal grammar school , but received a warning in 1671 because he often missed his colleges due to his practical work as a doctor. In 1668 he was appointed as the successor to Veit Riedlin senior (1628–1668) as hospital physician, which position he held until his death on May 24, 1674.
