Johann Philipp Trefurt

Johann Philipp Trefurt (born August 10, 1769 in Dannenberg (Elbe) , † November 22, 1841 in Göttingen ) was a German Lutheran theologian, most recently General Superintendent of the General Diocese of Göttingen .

Life

After studying theology, Trefurt first became a field preacher and seminar inspector in Hanover . In 1802 he got a job as assistant preacher at the castle church in Hanover, in 1805 he became the first pastor to St. Johannis and superintendent of the first inspection in Göttingen. By decree of King Jérôme of December 17, 1807, an initially provisional (1811 final) Westphalian consistory for Grubenhagen and Göttingen was set up in Göttingen, to which Trefurt belonged. After the liberation from Napoleonic rule, the consistory ceased operations on November 18, 1813. In 1827 Trefurt became General Superintendent of the General Diocese of Göttingen. He was a member of the Göttingen Freemason Lodge Augusta for the golden circle .

His son was the doctor Johann Heinrich Christoph Trefurt .
