Sebastian Schramm left a handwriting that is now called the first work on monument preservation in Bamberg. The Auri fodina Bambergensis contains u. a. Replicas of inscriptions on buildings with descriptions of the state of preservation and drawings of altars. It is one of the earliest examples of a documenting antiquities inventory. Other writings by Schramm deal with bells, grave monuments and coats of arms. These are early works of the inventorising monument preservation , which were created on the author's own initiative. The diary of his father Andreas (* 1691 in Haßfurt; † 1748 in Bamberg), which Johann Sebastian Schramm kept until March 23, 1749 ( Bamberg State Library , HV.Msc.113) , also comes from his possession .

Part of his estate is in the Bavarian National Museum in Munich , another in the Bamberg State Library, mainly in the collection of the Bamberg Historical Society . He bequeathed his collections to Bishop Franz Ludwig von Erthal , but they were largely lost in the course of secularization .
