Johann Sierks

Johann Heinrich Sierks (born April 6, 1924 in Oesterborstel , Dithmarschen district ) is a German trade unionist ( DGB ) and politician ( SPD ). He was state district chairman of the DGB and from 1971 to 1979 a member of the state parliament of Schleswig-Holstein .

Life

After Johann Sierks had finished elementary school , he completed an administration apprenticeship and a motor vehicle fitter training course. He continued his education at the REFA teacher seminar and then worked as a Refa teacher. Later he was employed full-time as a trade union secretary, among other things he was regional chairman of the DGB.

Sierks had been a union member since 1948 and joined the SPD in 1950. From 1950 to 1974 he worked as a social and state social judge, and from 1955 to 1972 as a labor and state labor judge . In addition, he was a member of various labor administration committees since 1955.

After he had been involved in local politics from the end of the 1950s, he was elected to the Kiel state parliament in the Schleswig-Holstein state elections in 1971 and 1975 via the state list of the SPD. During his time as a member of the state parliament from May 24, 1971 to May 26, 1979, Sierks worked, among other things, on the social welfare committee and the judges' selection committee. He also sat from 1975 to 1979 in the Broadcasting Council of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk .

Sierks was a member of various supervisory boards, the administrative board of the housing credit institution and the advisory board of the Landeszentralbank Hamburg. He was also chairman of the convalescent aid e. V. and at the same time also a board member of the Großhamburger funeral home.

On May 15, 1974, he took part in the sixth Federal Assembly, at which Walter Scheel was elected Federal President . Sierks also took part in the following Federal Assembly on May 23, 1979, when Karl Carstens was elected.

In recognition of his services, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class in 1974 , the Great Federal Cross of Merit in 1980 and the corresponding star in 1989.
