Johann Thaler

Johann Thaler (born January 1, 1847 in Wiesentheid , † January 2, 1920 in Würzburg ) was a German lawyer and lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Thaler attended the Benedictine high school in Metten from 1859 to 1867, studied philosophy, history and natural science at the Bamberg Lyceum from 1867/68, and law and political science at the universities of Würzburg and Munich from 1868 to 1872 . In 1870/71 he took part in the war against France as an officer in the 9th Bavarian Infantry Regiment. In 1874 he was promoted to Dr. jur. doctorate and after completing the state examination worked in the judicial and administrative service as well as in the law firm. From 1879 he was a lawyer at the Royal District Court of Würzburg. From 1884 onwards (except for 1893–96) he was a member and from 1886 second board member of the community plenipotentiary college in Würzburg, since 1893 substitute and since 1903 a member of the district administrator of Lower Franconia. He withdrew his proposed candidacy for the office of First Mayor of the City of Würzburg in 1884 in favor of Johann Georg von Steidle . Outside of work, he was active in associations and charities, in promoting the upbringing and care of the feeble-minded, honorary member of the K. Casino Bamberg, the K. Workers 'Association Würzburg and the St. Josefs-Workers' Association Regensburg . He was also chairman of the local committee for the 40th and 54th General Assemblies of Catholics in Germany in 1893 and 1907 and, since 1898, board member of the Franconian Center Association.

From 1903 to 1912 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Lower Franconia 6 (Würzburg) and the German Center Party .
