Johann Ulrich Sturzenegger

Johann Ulrich Sturzenegger (* 13. February 1785 in Trogen , † 15. February 1842 ibid ; heimatberechtigt ) was a Swiss writer , printer , editor , publisher and politician from the canton of Appenzell Outer Rhodes .

Life

Johann Ulrich Sturzenegger was the son of Mathias Sturzenegger, mathematician , publisher, print shop owner , web and embroidery manufacturer , and Elsbeth Zellweger. He was the grandson of Ulrich Sturzenegger . In 1808 Sturzenegger married Rosina Schirmer, daughter of Johannes Schirmer, mayor of Trogen and embroidery manufacturer.

After the death of his father in 1807 Sturzenegger took over his publishing house and the printing company . The most important product remained the “ Appenzeller Calendar ”, which he edited himself until the company passed to his son Johannes Sturzenegger around 1841. Sturzenegger was the parish clerk from 1811 to 1822 . From 1811 to 1825 he was a councilor. From 1825 to 1828 he held the office of mayor of Trogen and the cantonal examiner .
