Johann Veit Döll (born February 1, 1750 in Suhl ; † October 15, 1835 there ) was a German engraver , gemstone cutter and medalist .

Döll completed an apprenticeship as Büchsenschäfter , however, formed a self-taught engraver and gem cutters from. After staying in Vienna , where he worked for 15 months with the engraver Joseph Maximilian Kolb , and a short stay with the electoral court and cabinet stone cutter Johann Georg Klett in Dresden , Döll returned to Suhl in 1772 and worked as an independent engraver, medalist and stone cutter.

Döll received great recognition for his work, which was highly valued for its quality: in 1778 he became a court engraver for the Elector of Saxony . From 1796 he worked for the Berlin studio Daniel Friedrich Loos for almost 20 years and cut the stamps for around 100 medals. In 1808 the Berlin Academy of the Arts made him a full member, and in 1824 he received the Prussian Order of the Red Eagle .

In memory of Johann Veit Döll, the German Medalist Prize , which has been awarded jointly by the city of Suhl and the German Society for Medal Art since 2006, was named after the Suhl medalist.
