Live and act

Johann Viktor Gruol the Elder was born in 1766 as the eldest son of the wine grower Johann Georg Gruol and their wife Anna Maria.

He spent his apprenticeship with organ builder Johann Andreas Goll in Weilheim an der Teck. On November 13, 1789, he married Anna Margaretha Gölzin and started his own business as an organ builder. For this purpose, he set up his organ workshop on Hinteren Strasse in Bissingen an der Teck (later the Krone restaurant, meanwhile demolished). Eleven descendants came from the marriage, of which two sons, Johann Georg and Johann Viktor the Younger, also took up the profession of organ builder.
