Johann Wilhelm Anton Hunrichs

Johann Wilhelm Anton Hunrichs (born October 31, 1718 in Oldenburg (Oldb) ; † January 19, 1787 ibid) was an Oldenburg budget councilor and dikemaster .

Life

Hunrichs was the son of the engineer-captain Wilhelm Anton Hunrichs († 1720), a nephew of the dikemaster Anton Günther von Münnich (1650-1721). He studied law and mathematics in Jena and was adjudicated in 1738 in Oldenburg to his brother-in-law, Deichgraf Wilhelm Anton Schmidt (1703–1752), whose successor he was from 1752 on. In 1766 he handed over the deichgrave's office to his nephew Johann Christian Schmidt (1737–1790), who was ennobled as Schmidt by Hunrichs . Chamber councilor since 1749 , in 1756 he was appointed judicial councilor , followed in 1773 by budget councilor, a senior civil servant in the government. In addition to his office of dikemaster, he was given official surveying duties in 1755. With his map of Oldenburg, printed in 1761, he was the last Oldenburg cartographer before the trigonometric land survey that was initiated in 1781 . He published some writings, of which the book publication draft of the current dyke law in 1768 was of particular importance, as this served as the basis for legal practice in Oldenburg up to the dyke regulations of 1855.
