Johann von Rath

Johann Edler von Rath (born May 11, 1789 in Vienna , † May 28, 1853 in Karlsbad ) was an Austrian real councilor .

Life

Johann von Rath was Mathäus Rath's only son .

He received his legal and political training at the University of Vienna and the Lyzeum Graz . At the beginning of 1809 he was accepted into the civil service as an actuary of the later dissolved outpatient criminal court (ban court) . In 1815 he became council recorder at the city and regional court in Klagenfurt and a year later he became secretary at the city and regional court in Graz . In the same year he was appointed as a councilor to the Trieste city ​​and district court. In 1818 he was appointed to the coastal appeals court in Fiume, where in 1820 he was promoted to the real council of appeals , like his father.

With the dissolution of the court in Fiume, Johann von Rath was transferred to the Moravian-Silesian Appeal and Criminal High Court in Brno . Around 1824 he worked there under President Johann Ludwig von Werner , but in 1828 he moved to the Lower Austrian Court of Appeal in Vienna .

In 1832 he was promoted to the real Hofrat at the highest judicial office . This promotion also led to his becoming a voting member of the Supreme Court of Appeal under President Ludwig Graf von Taaffe .

Around 1839 he became a full member of the Association for the Advancement of Fine Arts . During his time in Brno he was also a member and manager of the Brno poor relief organization .

Johann von Rath is said to have published several legal treatises anonymously in the Wagner'sche Zeitschrift für Österreichische Rechtsschehrsamkeit .
