Johann Sieberer , since 1910 Freiherr von Sieberer (born October 11, 1830 in Going near St. Johann in Tirol , † April 27, 1914 in Innsbruck ) was general inspector of the Austrian insurance company "Österreichischer Phönix" and one of the greatest benefactors of the Tyrolean capital Innsbruck.

Born out of wedlock and orphaned at an early age, the Archbishop of Salzburg made it possible for him to attend grammar school, which he completed with the Matura at the Franziskanergymnasium in Hall in Tirol .

From 1860 he worked for the insurance company "Österreichischer Phönix", whose general inspector he later became. This post enabled him to amass a considerable fortune, which he shared with the general public from 1885 by financing the "Von Sieberer'schen Orphanage". In 1889 he had the two towers of the Jesuit church built. In 1904 he donated the "Vereinigungsbrunnen" in front of Innsbruck Central Station to commemorate the unification of Innsbruck and Wilten. In 1907 he contributed a large part (630,000 crowns) to the construction costs of the Emperor Franz-Joseph anniversary asylum for the elderly. The latter was inaugurated personally by the emperor on August 29, 1909. In 1910 Sieberer was raised to the hereditary Austrian baron status.

Sieberer's grave is located in the crypt of the chapel of "his" orphanage in Siebererstrasse named after him. Today the municipal elementary school Siebererstraße and the Daniel-Seiler-Schule are located in this building.
