Hannelore Weber

Johanna Eleonore Weber (born  April 22, 1955 in Plaidt ), nickname Hannelore Weber , is a German psychologist . Since 1994 she has been professor for differential and personality psychology / psychological diagnostics at the University of Greifswald . She has been the rector of the university since 2013.

Life

Hannelore Weber was born in Plaidt in 1955 and, after attending primary school in Oberwesel, graduated from the state advanced high school in Boppard from 1969 to 1974 . She then studied journalism from 1974 and psychology from 1975 to 1981 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . From 1982 to 1987 she worked as a research assistant, from 1987 to 1992 as an academic adviser and from 1992 to 1994 as a senior adviser at the chair for personality psychology and psychological diagnostics at the Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg , where she did her doctorate in 1987 and 1992 also obtained his habilitation .

In 1994 Hannelore Weber was appointed to the chair for Differential and Personality Psychology / Psychological Diagnostics at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald , where she was significantly involved in the development of the newly founded Institute for Psychology. In 2003 she turned down an offer for a professorship for differential psychology and gender research at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg . In October 2012 she was elected rector of the University of Greifswald. She took up the post on February 1, 2013 after the expiry of the term of office of her predecessor and specialist colleague Rainer Westermann and is the first woman in this position in the history of the university. In December 2016 she was elected for a second four-year term.

Hannelore Weber also acted as vice-president from 2002 to 2004 and as president of the German Society for Psychology from 2004 to 2006 . Since 2014 she has been Vice President of the University Rectors' Conference for the field of university medicine and health sciences.

Hannelore Weber's research interests focus on the regulation of stress and emotions .
