Johannes-Jörg Riegler

Johannes-Jörg Riegler (born June 16, 1964 in Werneck , Schweinfurt district ) is a German bank manager and Chairman of the Board of Management of BayernLB from April 2014 to February 2019 .

Life

Riegler grew up in Schweinfurt and completed an internship at the local savings bank when he was 17 . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg and began his professional career at law firms in Germany and the USA. In 1993 Riegler moved to Deutsche Bank , where he carried out various specialist and managerial tasks at home and abroad over a period of ten years, most recently as Global Head of the Telecom Portfolio and Chief Project Officer for Risk Management Europe. During this time, he completed his dissertation in Würzburg while working, as well as the Master of Business Administration (MBA) in London and the course to become a specialist lawyer for insolvency law . In 2003, Riegler took on the position of Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at Westfalenbank (HVB Group), and joined the Board of Management the following year.

In 2005, Riegler was also appointed to the board of Nord / LB in Hanover as CRO , where he was also responsible for relationship management in the savings bank association business. From January 1, 2013 until he switched to BayernLB , Riegler was also Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management at Nord / LB. On March 1, 2014, he moved to the board of BayernLB and took over the chairmanship of the board on April 1, 2014, succeeding Gerd Häusler . The contract initially runs until 2019. In December 2018, it was announced that Riegler would leave BayernLB in February 2019 after his contract expired.

Riegler has also been chairman of the supervisory board of DKB AG , based in Berlin , since 2014 . In January 2014 he was appointed honorary professor at the Leuphana University of Lüneburg . He was also President of the Association of German Public Banks (VÖB) in Berlin from November 2016 to mid-2019 .

Riegler is married and has three children.
