Johannes Bachmann (theologian)
Johannes Franz Julius Bachmann (born February 24, 1832 in Berlin , † April 11, 1888 in Rostock ) was a German Lutheran theologian .
Life
Johannes Bachmann was the son of the senior consistorial councilor Johann Friedrich Bachmann (1799–1876) and his wife Mathilde Julie Emelie (1806–1874). He studied theology at the Universities of Halle and Berlin . Later he was consistorial councilor and pastor in Berlin . On October 12, 1858, he married in Berlin. From 1858 he was professor for the Old Testament at the University of Rostock . In addition to his field of expertise, he also published research on hymnology and campaigned for the Inner Mission . Influenced by Tholuck and Hengstenberg , he represented a conservative Lutheran theology.
Bachmann's son-in-law was Heinrich Behm , the regional bishop of Mecklenburg-Schwerin.
