Johannes Blum

Johannes Blum (born November 23, 1857 in Krefeld , † March 22, 1946 ibid) was a German politician at the center .

Life and work

After attending grammar school in Krefeld , Blum took over his parents' agricultural estate in Fischeln and ran it. He was a member of the board of the Rhenish Chamber of Agriculture.

From 1916 to 1918 Blum was a member of the state parliament in Prussia for the constituency of Düsseldorf 9 ( Kempen - Geldern ). In 1919/20 he was a member of the Weimar National Assembly . In the debate on the Reich Settlement Act on July 1, 1919, he spoke out in favor of creating primarily medium-sized settlement areas for new farmers, as small areas would not support a family, while large companies would have to fail to provide as many people as possible with their own land. He was then a member of the Reichstag until 1933 . He was also a city councilor in Krefeld for many years.

Honors

The Johannes-Blum-Straße in Krefeld-Fischeln is named after Blum .
