Johannes Erhardi (General Superintendent)

Johannes Erhardi (* 1543 in Werningerode ; † 1627 in Lauenburg / Elbe ) was a German Evangelical-Lutheran pastor and general superintendent for the Duchy of Saxony-Lauenburg from 1605 to 1627.

Professional background

Erhardi was examined, ordained and then introduced as pastor in Siebeneichen in 1583 by the then Lauenburg superintendent Gerhard Sagittarius .

In the visitation report of the parish of Siebeneichen from 1590, Erhardi was described as a “young and hardworking man”, “so that he should have been born between 1550 and 1560”.

In 1605, with the consent of the community, he was appointed pastor to Lauenburg / Elbe and appointed general superintendent with the consent of the knights and landscape.

In 1614 Erhardi held a general visit. He published questions about the Lutheran catechism , which were introduced and used in all churches and schools in the country until 1687.
