Johannes Fässler

Johannes Fässler (born October 24, 1824 in Rehetobel ; † July 26, 1881 Trogen ; resident in Rehetobel) was a Swiss teacher , cantonal councilor , government councilor and national councilor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johannes Fässler was a son of Leonhard Fässler and Katharina Hauser. In 1852 he married Anna Barbara Niederer. He entered into a second marriage in 1861 with Anna Elisabeth Niederer. Both were daughters of Bartholome Niederer, blacksmith . In 1874 he married Johanna Barbara Sturzenegger, daughter of Leonhard Sturzenegger, cooper . He attended Rehetobel primary school and teacher Höhn's French school in Speicher . Financial and family circumstances prevented theological training. He completed a Weber teach . From 1842 to 1845 he attended the seminar in Trogen and briefly in 1845 the Münchenbuchsee seminar . He worked from 1845 to 1851 as a teacher in Langenthal and from 1851 to 1863 in Bühler .

In Ausserrhoden he was a land clerk from 1863 to 1876 and from 1876 to 1878 the court clerk . From 1877 to 1878 he was a member of the Cantonal Council. From 1878 to 1881 he served as a member of the government in the function of director of justice. From 1878 to 1881 he was a member of the National Council. He belonged to the Liberals and in the Federal Assembly of the Left. He presided over the state and canton school commission from 1879 to 1881. From 1879 to 1881 he was a member of the Evangelical Synod of Ausserrhoden. He made great contributions to the revision of the canton's constitution . He drafted a code of civil and criminal procedure . He was the initiator of the cantonal forced labor institution .
