Johannes Fischer (church musician)

Johannes Fischer (born January 24, 1933 in Dresden ; † August 12, 2005 in Magdeburg ) was a German church musician and composer .

As a member of the German Composers' Association , he was registered as "Johannes Fischer-Bad Schandau" under his artist name, which refers to one of his places of residence and work.

After studying church music in Dresden ( organ : Hans Otto , composition : Herbert Gadsch , choir director : Martin Flämig ), he worked from 1957 to 1959 as a cantor in Crimmitschau and from 1959 to 1972 in Bad Schandau . From 1972 to 1981 he lived with his family in Burgstädt / Saxony. He then moved to Magdeburg, where he continued to work as a church musician and in music therapy .

Cantor Johannes Fischer had been freelance since 1993. He composed, among other things, three symphonies as well as cantatas , motets , songs, choral settings for mixed and male choir, literature for brass and organ works.

In 1994 he received the 1st prize “Modern Concerto grosso” from the European Baroque Academy in Cologne and the 2nd prize “Children's Choir Cantatas” from the Braunschweig Cathedral.
