Johannes Frischknecht

Johannes Frischknecht (born April 1, 1850 in Herisau ; † June 24, 1911 in the same place ; legal resident in Schwellbrunn ) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur and cantonal councilor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johannes Frischknecht was a son of Johannes Frischknecht and Anna Katharina Rohner. In 1872 he married Berta Höhener, daughter of Heinrich Höhner, owner of the finish in Herisau. In 1882 he married Susanna Locher, née Breitenmoser, widow of August Wilhelm Locher. In 1888 he married her sister, Sophie Gertrud Breitenmoser, both daughters of Johann Jakob Breitenmoser, brewery owner and landlord .

Johannes Frischknecht completed a commercial apprenticeship in St. Gallen . Then he founded an embroidery business around 1872. The task of the same around 1881 was to take over the finishing of his father-in-law from his first marriage. He gradually expanded this, including in 1901 by taking over Lafont'schen bleaching and finishing in Sittertobel near St. Gallen. From 1884 to 1890 Johannes Frischknecht was councilor in Herisau. From 1893 to 1900 he served as a cantonal councilor . In addition, Johannes Frischknecht was the sponsor of a rail connection from Herisau to St. Gallen. He sat on the board of directors of the Bodensee-Toggenburg-Bahn and the Kubel electricity works , Herisau. He was a member of the cantonal bank administration from 1894 to 1910. From 1900 to 1910 he was vice-president. He was a member of the Evangelical Synod from 1908 to 1911.
