Johannes Höpfl (born August 12, 1995 in Passau ) is a former German snowboarder.

Career

Höpfl, who is a corporal in the German Armed Forces , made his international debut in 2008 in the European Snowboard Cup , where he competed in his first halfpipe races. At the 2010 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Cardrona , New Zealand , he finished 42nd in the halfpipe after reaching 52nd place in slopestyle. On November 4, 2010 Höpfl made his debut in the Snowboard World Cup . He reached the 38th place in the halfpipe race in Saas-Fee . After two good top 20 placements in Klínovec in the European Cup in February 2011, he also reached the World Cup points in the two World Cups in Bardonecchia in the halfpipe and in slopestyle.

At the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2011 in Valmalenco , Höpfl reached 38th place in the halfpipe and 55th place in slopestyle. At the beginning of the 2011/12 season in Ruka he just barely missed his first result in the top ten in eleventh place.

At the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck , Höpfl finished 8th in the halfpipe and 19th in slopestyle. With a 27th place at the World Cup in Stoneham , he qualified for the Snowboard Junior World Championships 2012 in the Spanish Sierra Nevada . As ninth in the halfpipe and 51st in slopestyle, he again missed a medal rank. At the following World Cups, Höpfl convinced with good results in the qualification rounds. In the races themselves he was without any points.

At the Snowboard Junior World Championships in 2013 , Höpfl only started in the halfpipe for the first time and once again missed a top place in tenth place. After he finished 11th again at the beginning of the 2013/14 season in Ruka and also landed in the points in Stoneham, he was nominated for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi . He was the only German male snowboarder in the freestyle disciplines.

In the halfpipe in the Rosa Chutor ski area , Höpfl finished 22nd after being eliminated in the semi-finals.

Köpfl ended his snowboarding career in March 2019.
