Johannes Hellermann

Johannes Hellermann (born March 30, 1957 in Unna ) is a German legal scholar and professor of public law , finance and tax law . He is a professor at the law faculty at Bielefeld University .

Career

After studying law at the University of Bielefeld and the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , he worked for a number of years as a research assistant . a. from Ernst-Wolfgang Böckenförde . From 1989 to 1991 he worked in the building administration and legal office of the city of Freiburg im Breisgau . From 1991 he was a research assistant at the chair of Joachim Wieland and during this time did his doctorate with the dissertation topic “The so-called negative side of freedom rights” and in 1998 he completed his habilitation on “Local services of general interest and communal self-administration ” .

From 1998 he was the representative of the professors at the Universities of Freiburg and Bielefeld and in 2000 he was appointed full professor at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster .

In 2002 Johannes Hellermann was visiting professor at the University of Virginia , School of Law, Charlottesville , USA.

Since October 2002 he has been professor for public law, finance and tax law at Bielefeld University. His research focuses on constitutional law , financial (constitutional) law , public commercial law and local law . From 2007 to 2009 he was Vice-Rector for Studies and Teaching and from 2009 to 2015 Vice-Rector for Quality Development at Bielefeld University.
