Johannes Hoppe (medical doctor)

Johannes Hoppe (also: Johann Hopp, Hoppius ; * July 7, 1616 in Löwenberg , Principality of Schweidnitz-Jauer ; † March 13, 1654 in Leipzig ) was a German physician.

Life

Hoppe enrolled at the University of Leipzig in the winter semester of 1628 , where he began studying philosophical sciences in 1635. On July 9, 1636 he was baccalaureus at the Faculty of Philosophy and acquired the degree of Master of Philosophy on January 26, 1637 . He then completed a medical degree, was admitted to the medical faculty as a baccalaureus in 1639, was licentiate in medical sciences in 1643 and received his doctorate in medicine in 1644 .

The collegiate at the small prince's college became professor of anatomy and surgery in the same year , rose to the professorship of pathology in 1647, making him senior at the medical faculty. In the winter semesters of 1644, 1646 and 1648 he was rector of the Alma Mater .

He died in 1654 and was buried in the Paulinerkirche in Leipzig on March 17th . Its epitaph is still preserved and is integrated into the new church building (south wall of the south aisle).

His marriage on July 7, 1646 with Rosina (* October 2, 1629 in Leipzig; † August 18, 1659 ibid. August 21 in the Paulinerkirche in Leipzig), the daughter of the theologian Mauritius Burchard (1586–1637) and his Mrs. Catharina († June 18, 1633), daughter of the theologian Cornelius Becker (1561-1604), remained childless. She had married the physician Michael Heinrich Horn (1623–1681) in her second marriage .
