Johannes Kunze (theologian)

Johannes Wilhelm Kunze (born August 31, 1865 in Dittmannsdorf ; † July 20, 1927 ) was a German Lutheran theologian and university professor.

Kunze studied theology in Leipzig , where Luthardt was his main teacher, and Erlangen and then became vicar at the teachers' seminar in Annaberg . From 1889 to 1892 he was a senior teacher at the Wettiner Gymnasium in Dresden. In 1894 he received his habilitation in Leipzig. He was full professor in Vienna from 1903 to 1905 and professor of theology in Greifswald from 1905 .

Kunze was an opponent of kenosis and was at a critical distance from Albrecht Ritschl . He worked on the Real Encyclopedia for Protestant Theology and Church .
