Johannes Mühlsteiger

Johannes Mühlsteiger SJ (born June 24, 1926 in Brixen ) is an Italian theologian and professor at the theological faculty of the University of Innsbruck .

Life

In his hometown he studied philosophy and theology. After being ordained a priest on June 29, 1950, he entered the novitiate of the Society of Jesus and studied philosophy at the religious college of the Jesuits in Pullach . He was active in youth ministry. He studied Catholic theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty in Innsbruck , where he received his doctorate . He graduated from the Tertiate in Paray-le-Monial in France and acquired the licentiate in canon law at the Gregorian . He was prefect in the theological convict Canisianum (Innsbruck) . After completing his habilitation in 1967, he became Professor of Canon Law and Head of the Institute for Canon Law at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Innsbruck (1970-1994). He was a member of the Austrian Commission for the Revision of the Church Code; the Theological Commission of the Austrian Bishops' Conference and in the Tribunal of the Diocese of Innsbruck for the beatification of Otto Neururer .
