Johannes Martini (born June 9, 1866 in Chemnitz , † February 7, 1935 in Munich ) was a German painter and graphic artist .

Life

He was a student of Franz Skarbina at the Berlin Art Academy . He then spent two years at the Académie Julian in Paris. Martini presented his works a. a. in the Great Art Exhibition in Berlin, but also in the Paris Salon . He took part in the anniversary exhibition for the 90th birthday of Prince Regent Luitpold and in the annual exhibition in the Berlin Glass Palace .

Martini spent a large part of his life in Munich and lived in the Schwabing district . He was married and had a son.

Many of his pictures are considered lost. However, an extensive estate in the form of letters is with a Munich private citizen and a collector in the Hessian area. His work also includes erotic drawings, some of which have been preserved in a Frankfurt private collection.

As a visual artist, he was a member of the Allgemeine Deutsche Kunstgenossenschaft (AdK), the Munich Artists Association and the Reich Association of Visual Artists of Germany (RVbK) and had many contacts with well-known personalities such as B. Siemens, Krupp and even the Vatican .
